When I met Andy, I could sense that he was a man of integrity and kindness, who cared deeply about helping his people. During our journey to and from Philadelphia during the week of the DNC, writer John Laurits and I were invited to Andy’s home in North Dakota, in order to conduct an interview for our article on Turtle Mountain reservation. We learned about the struggles of the Native American population there, and nationwide, and I felt deeply moved and invigorated from the conversations that we had with Andy. If you’re interested in reading John’s article, which also includes photos that I took of our visit to the reservation and Andy’s home, click here.
